About Pemba

Pemba grew up in the Everest region of Nepal, in Sewangma. At the age of 16 Pemba began working in the Himalayan tourism industry as a professional mountain guide. After moving to the US Pemba started an adventure guiding company, Sherpa Ascent International, in an effort to reestablish contact with his home country and share the Himalayan Mountain’s majestic environment, and colorful culture with westerners. Pemba has guided over 47 trekking and climbing trips to the Himalayas in the past 20 years, which include Nepal, Tibet, India, Bhutan and Pakistan. As well as guiding trips to East Africa, which include Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, and Rwanda. Pemba competed against the best ice climbers in the world in Ouray, Colorado, Pemba runs at an elite level, soaring through a 2003 5k in 15 minutes and 17 seconds. Pemba opened Sherpa Adventurer Restaurant in 2002 to bring the experience, adventure, and taste of the Himalaya to Boulder, CO. He is the founder and CEO of Sherpa Chai, harvested in the Himalaya and brewed by Sherpa of Boulder.
