Come join us for an evening with Montbell Ambassador Heather "Anish" Anderson. Heather will be discussing her journey from hiker to author of her new book, Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home. During the evening she will be sharing stories from the PCT and readings from the book. This is a great chance to meet the author and get a signed copy of the new book.
Heather was recently chosen by National Geographic as a “2019 Adventurer of the Year.” In part due to her recent feat of becoming the first female to complete the Triple Crown in a calendar year and having hiked nearly 30,000 miles since 2003.

Past Event:

【Highs and Lows on the Pacific Crest Trail】
Presented by Alan Carpenter
The Pacific Crest Trail runs for 2,660 miles from Mexico to Canada through
California, Oregon, and Washington. The PCT, as it’s known, is arguably the world’s finest long-distance hiking trail. It boasts outstanding scenery, a wide variety of vegetation types, 489,000 feet of elevation gain, numerous opportunities to resupply, minimal bureaucratic regulations, and a well-designed and maintained trail tread.

Veteran long-distance hiker and cyclist Alan Carpenter will convince you that the PCT deserves its stellar reputation. He’ll entertain you with photos and stories of life on the trail. Plus, he’ll highlight three mishaps that he experienced on his PCT hike, how he recovered from them, and what he learned.

【Thru-hiking for Everybody】
Presented by Liz Thomas
Ever dream of the summer when you can hike the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, or John Muir Trail? Aren’t sure how to go from dream to reality?
In this approachable take on distance hiking, celebrated thru-hiker Liz Thomas will share stories from her new book, the National Outdoor Book Award winning Long Trails: Mastering the Art of the Thru-hike. With real-life stories from dozens of trails including the Appalachian, Pacific Crest, and Continental Divide Trails, Liz showcases expert tips by experienced hikers from all backgrounds.
Part-story-telling, part how-to, this talk includes topics such as: safety, hygiene, gear, nutrition, staying in good graces with family and friends on-and-off trail, and finding the time and money to hike for weeks or months. Attendees are invited for a Q&A afterward as well as a book signing with the author.

【A Walk Across Southern Utah】
Presented by Paul Magnanti
For thirty-three days, Paul Magnanti walked across the length of southern Utah from the Nevada to the Colorado borders. In his journey of over 600 miles, Paul explored canyons, backpacked through four national parks, scrambled up cliffs, rafted across the Colorado River, and hiked along mountains to make his way across Utah on a journey through some of the most remote terrain in the continental United States. Unlike more well-known routes such as the Appalachian Trail or the Colorado Trail, this route is undefined. Paul will be sharing his journey through photos and stories from along the way.
More about Paul and his journeys may be found on his website at PMags.com.
More reasons to join us:
Boulder's local Sherpa Chai and Upstart Kombucha will be demonstrating their delicious beverages! Hot, sweet and spicy Chai, tasty sparkling Kombucha, and epic tales from Paul's adventures!

Presented by Whitney "Allgood" LaRuffa

Allgood who has spent a better part of the past 20 years long distance hiking will share his tales from the trail, stunning photos and tips for those thinking of tackling the CDT. Join us for a fun evening to learn more about the CDT and the landscape and communities it passes through.

EX Light Down Anorak
I bought the EX Light Down Anorak this year and have loved its versatility and surprising warmth. With varying layers I have taken it comfortably from temperatures in the 50’s down into the teens. It packs down into a 7.5 X 6.25in stuff sack which makes it ideal as an extra layer in a backpack for hiking and an easy choice for travel. The Anorak is a Unisex size and at 5’3” 110lbs the size small gives me space for layering, a little extra length in the body, and is still easy to get on and off.

Roche Pants
Roche Pants: I have worn the Roche pants the last few times I have gone ice climbing in Colorado, so far I have been impressed. These pants are made with durable Climapro nylon with a thin fleece lining. The Climapro and gusseted crotch give you unrestricted movement and comfort in harsh conditions. While not waterproof the DWR finish has kept me dry after miles of hiking and many pitches of climbing.
