Justin "Trauma" Lichter
Since 2002, Justin has hiked an amazing 35,000 miles. After an outdoor education class, Justin first started considering an attempt of the Appalachian Trail. In 2003, he started in Georgia and completed his hike in Cap Gaspe, Quebec. Justin would then go on to complete the Pacific Crest Trail, Pacific Northwest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and the Great Divide Trail. In 2005 Justin hiked 10,000 miles in 356 days with his dog Yoni, a long distance hiking challenge referred to as the Triple Crown : completing the Eastern Continental Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail in one year.
Justin’s love of long distance hiking has also taken him internationally.
He’s hiked in New Zealand, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Africa, and the Himalayas through Nepal and India.
Most recently, Justin hiked the FIRST Winter Pacific Crest Trail traverse with frequent hiking partner Shawn “Pepper” Forry. They covered 2,660 miles in 132 days!
“We kicked around the idea of this trip for about 5 years. Finally this year we felt ready to set out on it - after years of testing ski gear, Pepper feeling comfortable with his skiing ability, and logistics and planning. Despite all of the planning we still had a last minute change of direction. We had even purchased our plane tickets to head down to San Diego to go northbound. Ultimately, with less than a week before we departed, we changed to southbound - and the rest is history.” - TRAUMA
Justin has also found time to publish books about ultralight hiking and his experiences on the trail. His newest book, "Short Stories from Long Trails" is available at:
