Montbell Athlete Heather "Anish" Anderson Review and Recommendations

I used the Tec Thermawrap Pants on my Calendar Year Triple Crown hike during the coldest months. There were ideal for early winter storms in the White Mountains of New Hampshire when temperatures were in the 30’s with windchills below zero. I also utilized them in the winter storms I hiked through in southern Colorado.

I appreciate the full side zips and snap closures at waist and hem that allow both for ventilation and for ease in taking them on and off over footwear. There are exceptionally warm and take a very long time to soak through in light precipitation. They were ideal in snowstorms out West where the drier air meant that they dried as fast as snow was melting onto them. They are roomy enough to layer over tights or a standard pair of hiking pants, but not baggy. The elastic waist increases the versatility when it comes to layering.

I’ve also used these a good deal for edge season mountaineering. They’ve been excellent in camp and also when belaying. Comfortable enough to climb in, they are warm enough for resting or waiting. They also make a great layer for cold and windy summits if you plan to spend some time there relishing your ascent.
