Montbell Climbing Selection

Crisp temperatures and magical friction are just around the corner. Here at Montbell, we are always looking for ways to tweak the products that fuel our passions. Each piece of climbing-related gear and apparel represents a design that has been carefully honed in Japan, by climbers, for climbers.

Climbing Gear

Our lineup of chalk bags are purpose-built for vertical climbing or bouldering, and our series of Gear Containers are perfect for moving your rope and other items around the base of the crag. The Ridge Line Pack is durable and can stand up to the rigors of scraping, scumming and hauling up multi-pitch and alpine climbs. Lastly, our climbing socks are a new-school take on an old-school antidote for cold feet while climbing on alpine routes or at frigid crags. Although they aren't specifically climbing gear, insulated booties (we have down and synthetic) are a great way to keep your feet warm when hanging out in-between climbs.

Early Season Apparel

These lightweight essentials are great for the mild climbing temps of early autumn. The Crag Jacket is a breathable, highly stretchy and abrasion-resistant soft shell built for climbers. The Merino Wool Plus Light T is a high-quality, odor-resistant base layer that can be worn by itself when the sun hits your project. The hoodie version also works great during early season climbing and its hood offers coverage in the colder conditions of the late season. Utilizing lightweight and breathable 4-way stretch fabric, our Light Cliff Pants are ready for the high feet and technical footwork found on the most demanding climbs. Our Ignis Down Parka sports 1000 Fill Power EX Down and WINDSTOPPER® fabrics by GORE-TEX LABS, making it a top of line choice for weather resistance and highly packable warmth. Lastly, our watch cap beanies will ensure you send in style.

Late Season Apparel

These carefully constructed midweight pieces excel in late season climbing sessions when the temperatures begin to drop. The Merino Wool Plus Action Zip Neck and the Trail Action Hooded Jacket are an excellent base layer/jacket combination for staying warm without compromising mobility for the next move. Our Snow Banshee Hoodie is a wind-resistant, midweight soft shell with pit zips, great for active movements in cold conditions on late-season rock and early-season ice. The Permafrost Light is a wind and weather-resistant down jacket featuring WINDSTOPPER® fabrics by GORE-TEX LABS that is perfect for keeping you warm at the belay or between burns on a boulder problem. The Alpine Inner Cap is wind-resistant and fits under a climbing helmet for added warmth on colder ascents.
