The Stretch Short Spats are exceedingly comfortable and offer no rub or chafe on the ankles or shins. Their stretch is perfect for wearing with both trail running shoes and beefier light hikers. I’ve found them to be incredibly water resistant and they last much longer than other spandex brands. They stay securely attached to the shoe during activity.

Unlike Velcro models, the Stretch Short Spats do not require shoe modifications and they easily adjust to any footwear. They are secured by a reinforced strap that runs under the midfoot. While reinforced, this is a wear point and should be monitored with prolonged use, especially on flat soled shoes such as Altra.

Overall these are a great pick for long lasting, functional, and versatile spat or short gaiter. They keep out dirt, debris, sticks, and light moisture extremely well.
