We go out of our way to find the best ultralight pieces, but what about maximum warmth? When you go to Alaska or Berlin or Vermont in the winter, you better pack some guaranteed warmth. The Mirage is a Montbell classic and it got an overhaul this year. I can’t tell you how happy I was to have this jacket when I had to edit photos in the cold for Trans Cascadia this year. At some point in a trip you just get tired of adding layers to keep warm and you reach for one jacket that you know will keep you warm - this is that parka.
